To get something similar to the old autocomplete, go to about:config again. Enable browser.urlbar.autoFill and browser.urlbar.matchOnlyTyped. Change browser.urlbar.matchBehavior to 2. You can try searching for the Old Bar Extension as well. Hope this helps.

This eliminates the annoying search responses, but am I right in saying it doesn’t give us back the old autocomplete function?
